George Washington Legacy Society
As a friend of Washington College, you know we are proud of our association with our patron, George Washington, and his example of civility, civic responsibility and leadership.
What you may not know is that he was a dedicated philanthropist who supported a more educated citizenry right here in Maryland. In 1783, George contributed 50 guineas to help transform the “College at Chester” into an institution that remains committed to personal, transformative student experiences that shape tomorrow’s leaders.
Like George Washington, many of our alumni, faculty, and friends are committed to providing for the future of Washington College. They know that by planning ahead, they maximize their gifts to Washington College students and those impacted by the scientists, artists, teachers and entrepreneurs who learn integrity and leadership here in Chestertown.
